NOVEMBER 2016 – JANUARY 2017
Gala Theatre, Durham
The Gala Theatre team are back to bring you the heroic and hilarious tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. This new take on an age old tale was once again written and directed by Gala stalwarts Neil Armstrong and Paul Hartley, and I was thrilled to be invited back after the success of last year’s Cinderella.
This production was the Gala theatre’s most successful show ever staged since it’s opening fifteen years earlier, with over 33,000 people coming to see Jack storm the castle in the clouds to defeat an angry giant and bring back prosperity to his home town of Spennymoor!
“Paul Dunn stealing the show as a brilliantly barmy Dame Trott.”
Middlesbrough Gazette
“Dunn’s Dame Trott ensured that the rafters rocked with jokes and innuendo, which the whole family found an absolute joy.”
Durham Advertiser
“Paul Dunn is hilarious as a very North-Eastern Dame Trott … Highlight for us was the wonderful slapstick scene in which Dame Trott and Simon make the giant a milkshake.”
Pantomime Magic
“A terrific show… Paul Dunn is every inch the panto Dame.“
British Theatre Guide
“It goes without saying that the Pantomime Dame is always a favourite. Paul Dunn plays Dame Trott, a loud brash and the very Northern Mother of Jack and Silly Simon. I loved her mismatched outfits, ridiculous make up and constant harassment of one of the men in the front row.”
RockandRollPussycat – a NE family and lifestyle blog
